Why I Call It Share It With Me
As a host and journalist, I see an interview as more than a conversation between two people. It is a conversation that is deliberately opened up to someone else, the listener. When I sit down with an interviewee, we are having a genuine conversation between us. But we both know that our conversation is not private. We are sharing it with the person listening on the other side. The listener is, in a sense, an invited eavesdropper, someone who is deliberately allowed to overhear our exchange because we want them to hear it, think about it and perhaps see something differently. That is the idea behind the name Share It With Me.

The conversation belongs to the host and the interviewee in the moment, but it is created with the listener in mind. I want the listener to feel as though they have been included in the room, not as a distant audience being talked at, but as someone who has been invited into the conversation.

As a journalist, I am interested in what happens when people are given the space to talk openly and when listeners are given the opportunity to hear those conversations without everything being reduced to a headline, a soundbite or a conclusion.

Share It With Me is therefore an invitation: listen in, come into the conversation, and share the experience with us.
